Thirty years ago, I started this journey with little more than a phone book and a conviction. I believed then, as I do now, that when you take care of people, the rest follows. My background at NASA taught me the importance of precision and systems, but my time in the mission field taught me that those systems only matter if they serve the person standing in front of you.
For decades, we operated as Harbor Financial Group. It was a name that served us well as we built a foundation of trust here on the Space Coast. But as the landscape of healthcare grew more complex and the “traditional” broker model became more about transactions than transformations, I sat across from business owners who had no idea why their employees couldn’t afford to use the coverage he was paying for. Those moments stayed with me. I realized our name no longer reflected the depth of our work.
We weren’t just “financial” advisors and selling insurance; we were architects of peace of mind.
The Third Wave Era
In exploration, a “wave” represents a movement of energy. The First Wave of insurance was simple coverage. The Second Wave was the rise of complex, often frustrating, corporate insurance systems. We are now entering the Third Wave, and I’ve watched it build for years in response to employees who felt lost and employers who felt powerless. This is an era defined by principled excellence and a “benefits-for-people” philosophy.
This transition to ThirdWave Benefits is not a change in ownership or heart. It is an intentional alignment of our identity with our mission. We are moving beyond the old way of “selling insurance” to a new standard of guiding business owners with clarity and advocacy.
