From Harbor Financial Group to ThirdWave Benefits. Built on Legacy. Designed for What’s Next.
Where It Began
More than 30 years ago, Lynne Mills entered the insurance industry with clear goals and a conviction to help people.
Through Harbor Financial Group, she built long-standing relationships rooted in trust, consistency, and care. Business owners didn’t just receive policies. They received guidance. They received follow-through. They received a partner who showed up when decisions felt complex or high stakes.
That foundation shaped everything that followed.
Benefits were never just about coverage. They were about protecting families, strengthening businesses, and doing the right thing even when it required extra effort.
The Turning Point
Why We Evolved
Healthcare continues to evolve. Regulations shift. Costs fluctuate. Expectations grow. Business owners are asked to manage increasing complexity while still leading and growing their companies.
That reality isn’t temporary. It’s ongoing.
Employers need more than annual renewals and rate comparisons. They need strategy, advocacy, systems, and clarity.
Harbor Financial Group had already grown into that role. The name simply hadn’t caught up.
The work had become more consultative. The tools more advanced. The process more refined. The expectations of business owners more strategic.
It was time for the brand to reflect what the company had already become.
The ThirdWave Chapter
ThirdWave Benefits represents the next era.
The third wave of employee benefits is defined by principled excellence, relentless clarity, and care for the people who make your business thrive.
This isn’t a departure from Harbor Financial Group. It’s the natural evolution of it.
The legacy Lynne built remains the foundation. The relationships remain. The conviction remains.
What changes is the clarity of our identity and the strength of our forward vision.
Today’s businesses need benefits strategies built for retention, compliance confidence, cultural strength, and long-term stability. They need enterprise-level tools delivered with relational care. They need proactive guidance in a constantly shifting landscape.
ThirdWave Benefits exists to meet that moment.

Lynne Mills
Founder & Principal
Lynne began her professional career working in communications at NASA, where she famously, allegedly, found her way into a space shuttle cockpit for a brief moment. The “story” captures her well: curious, bold, and always finding joy in the experience — qualities that have served both her life and her clients.

Lynne’s other defining chapter came in her early twenties, when she spent a year as a missionary in Kenya teaching English at an orphanage. That experience shaped her lifelong commitment to service and working with purpose and empathy.
Lynne entered the employee benefits industry seeking an independent career while raising a family, but she quickly discovered a deeper calling in the job: Helping business owners navigate benefits and build thriving workplaces became her passion. Now, after more than 30 years of owning her agency and guiding clients through decades of industry change, Lynne remains deeply committed to bringing clarity, transparency, and advocacy to employee benefits.
Outside of work, Lynne loves being “Mimi” to her five grandchildren, keeping up with her two escape-artist huskies, and volunteering at her church. And should the opportunity arise, she is still open to spending a little more time aboard a space shuttle.
Dixie Kuehn
Director of Medicare Services
Dixie Kuehn joined Harbor Financial Group in 2006 after a successful career in government sales, where she developed a strong foundation in client service and organizational communication. Seeking a more relationship-centered approach than the traditional corporate focus on quotas and product promotion, she transitioned into a role that allows her to support individuals and families more personally and meaningfully. Over the years, her business has grown largely by referrals.

Dixie is recognized for her ability to build trust with clients and guide them through the complexities of Medicare with clarity and patience. Her commitment to service frequently extends beyond professional expectations — she has been known to prepare meals for clients, assist with transportation to medical appointments, and offer support wherever it is needed.
She is active in her church community and lights up when she’s with her two kids and four grandkids. And if there’s an antique shop nearby, you can bet she’ll want to stop in and look for a little treasure.
Kaely Christensen
VP of Benefit Strategy
Kaely didn’t grow up dreaming of a career in employee benefits. Watching her mom build and run an agency convinced her she wanted anything but that life. She saw the long hours, the responsibility, and the weight of caring deeply for clients, and she was certain that wasn’t for her. After a brief stint in the corporate world, however, Kaely found herself itching for work that felt more purposeful and human. What began as a reluctant step into the family profession quickly became a calling of her own.

Over the past nine years, Kaely has built her career helping employers and their teams better understand and navigate their benefits. She is especially passionate about bringing clarity and advocacy to employees from all walks of life, ensuring people not only have coverage, but truly understand and feel supported by it. Kaely believes that when people feel cared for and informed about their benefits, workplaces become stronger and more resilient.
Kaely’s approach reflects who she is: sincere, curious, and relationship-driven, with a steady commitment to doing what’s right for the people she serves. Outside of work, Kaely loves traveling, reading, and running. Most of all, she treasures being a mom to her daughter, Mia, and a dog mom to her Aussie, Rosie, both of whom keep life joyful, busy, and full of adventure.
Kisha Edwards
Benefits Consultant
Growing up in North Carolina, Kisha developed a deep appreciation for the outdoors from an early age. Always seeking her next adventure, she spent countless hours hiking in the mountains and enjoying nature. Those experiences instilled a love for exploration, resilience, and finding perspective; qualities she now brings to both her personal life and her work.

Throughout her career, Kisha has built a diverse background spanning human resources, marketing, office management, and business development. While each role looked different, they all shared a common purpose: helping businesses grow while supporting the people who make them successful. Working closely with business owners gave her firsthand insight into the challenges they face every day and sparked a passion for helping employers create workplaces where employees feel valued and supported.
That passion naturally led Kisha to ThirdWave Benefits. She believes employee benefits should never feel confusing or overwhelming. Instead, they should be an investment that helps businesses attract and retain great employees while giving individuals confidence in the coverage they depend on. Kisha enjoys partnering with employers to simplify the benefits process, review their current plans, and educate employees so they can make informed decisions with confidence.
Known for her approachable, relationship-first style, Kisha believes the best partnerships are built on trust, honesty, and genuine care. Her goal is to make the complicated simple while serving as an advocate for every client she works with.
Outside of work, you’ll often find Kisha exploring Florida’s natural beauty, spending time with her family, or relaxing on the beach or golf course. Although she now calls Florida home, she’ll always have a special place in her heart for the mountains and trails of North Carolina.

The transition to Medicare was a natural next chapter: the same detail-oriented, client-first energy, applied to one of the most consequential insurance decisions a person will ever make.
Jay has a gift for making Medicare feel less like a maze and more like a plan. When he’s not untangling Medicare options, he’s home with his wife Kelsey and their new baby girl.
Kassidy LaMarre
Account Manager
Kassidy began her career as a labor and delivery nurse, catching babies, supporting moms, and thriving in the beautiful chaos of a labor room. She loved it, but when she became a mom herself, she wanted a career that didn’t require her to miss bedtime quite so often.

The hospital’s loss was our enormous gain, because Kassidy brought every ounce of her nursing precision, calm-under-pressure disposition, and genuine care for people straight into her role as account manager. She is, without question, the reason the trains run on time around here; she keeps our clients supported and our team sane. When she’s not working, she’s chasing her three little ones around the beach.
